ABOUT
Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, Growling Anvil Studios is owned and operated by me, Michael McCarthy. I opened the shop in 2008 and constructed my own forge. Today, I use it to create, restore, and replicate a variety of handmade objects.
Innovation within tradition is my guiding principle, and I emphasize traditional processes and historic form and function. Throughout my career, I’ve refined my work and methods, from the production of raw materials to experimentation with unique finishes. I bring that expertise and artistry to every project I undertake, producing an array of historic objects that meet the 21st century needs of my clients.
